The purpose of the Madison Curling Club’s rating system is to maintain a consistent level of parity for teams in each of our many leagues. Beginning last season, skips were asked to evaluate their team and their opponents after each game in such areas as ability to hit the broom, throw the right weight with the correct turn, sweeping expertise and judgment, staying focused on their game, understanding strategy, willingness to learn, and being a team player. Skips were able to log their input directly into the computer at the club each evening. This input was then compiled onto spreadsheets from which rating committees were to able to make their assessments; these ratings have been posted to the club Web site. If you have questions or concerns about your rating, please contact the committee chairs.
The women’s rating committee met on March 31st. Members of this year’s committee were: Tim Ebert, Bill Buckingham, Clarion Gilbertson, Mary Ann Jerred, Carla Lynch, Lori Mountford, Boots Stolt, Judi Page, Nancy Powers, Kathy Vinge, and Penny Clark, chair.
The men’s rating committee was comprised of Walt Erbach, Larry Baeder, Brent Ruhland, Terry Cunningham, Tony Wendricks, Jim Neidhart, Stan Vinge, Doug McIvor, Tim Ebert, John McAllister, and Bill Buckingham, chair.
